Did you know 1 in 4 women and 8 in 10 men will experience hair loss during their lifetime.

The causes may be multifactorial such genetic, environmental, or dietary causes, but all experience the self-consciousness associated with hair loss.

There are many therapies currently available:

Topical (Rogaine)

Medicinal (Finasteride)

Surgical (hair transplant)

Platelet Rich Plasma Injection (PRP)

Rogaine (Minoxidil), and Propecia (Finasteride) may be used by men and women, but generally only help about 30-40% of users. Conversely, hair transplant is very expensive, and needs about 4-6 wks of downtime or more for recovery, and hair regrowth.

PRP involves growth factors in your body that are directly injected to the areas in your scalp that have decreased hair growth. To aid in the administration of PRP to these tissues, microneedling is used to create thousands of microchannels. PRP is then placed over these channels for the treatment to go directly to the hair shaft. These growth factors help stimulate blood vessel growth and stimulate hair growth. Effects are generally apparent 6 months after treatment.

PRP cannot induce hair growth on a bald patch, but can stimulate existing thinning hair. PRP targets inactive hair follicles and stimulates them to revert to the growth phase.

Prior to the procedure, a topical anesthetic is applied. After about 30 minutes, the procedure is initiated and lasts 30-60 minutes. You may experience some redness on the scalp secondary to the micro needling, and some pinpoint bleeding is occasionally reported.

We recommend continuing with your previous hair treatment protocol to maximize hair regrowth from different modalities (Propecia or Rogaine).

To optimize your success, the best recommendation is to start treatments at the first sign of thinning.
